Stone Mountain CID Adds 'Unique' New Signs

Larger, more-visible signs positioned overhead will make it easier to navigate the Mountain Industrial corridor.

Highly visible improvements are set to being next month in the Stone Mountain Community Improvement District (CID).

Installers are preparing to add new street signs illuminated by light-emitting diodes (LED) to the mast arms across Mountain Industrial Boulevard. Work will begin in mid to late July.

The CID is able to undertake this project through grant funding supplied by Georgia’s State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA). The CID is working in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation and DeKalb County Public Works Department.

CID President Emory Morsberger said adding the distinctive street signs will draw attention to the community’s collective improvement efforts. “This is unique signage that helps set apart our corridor,” Morsberger said. “Our commercial property owners and business leaders are working together to attract new employers, fill available buildings and increase property values. This project will help raise our area’s profile.”

A total of 24 signs will be activated at 10 intersections. The new street signs will appear above the intersections next to the traffic signals. The larger, more-visible signs positioned overhead will increase driver awareness of location and direction, making it easier to navigate the Mountain Industrial corridor.

Another added benefit is the extra illumination from the LED technology. The signs will have a very bright appearance, which will help increase nighttime visibility.

Pre-installation planning will be completed to minimize potential traffic impacts as crews will work during daytime hours. Drivers are encouraged to observe all posted notices to maintain safe travel.

CID representatives welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss the sign project. Please contact CID President Emory Morsberger at 770-409-8100.
