Lithonia Mayor Joins Atlanta Regional Commission Group

Members include elected officials, non-profit leaders and private sector professionals appointed by the Atlanta Regional Commission Chairman.

The Atlanta Regional Commission’s (ARC) Environment and Land Use Committee (ELUC) has added four new DeKalb County members, and among them is Lithonia Mayor Deborah Jackson.

ELUC is a committee of ARC's Center for Livable Communities, which is spearheading the development effort in Stonecrest Town Center that will be unveiled on Aug. 17.

Jackson served as Lithonia’s city attorney and as an elected City Council member before taking the helm as mayor last January.

A statement from the ARC said, "new members were needed to ensure that the committee could continue providing Board and staff guidance on critical issues. Serving on the committee will also help elected officials not on ARC’s Board to gain a better understanding of how regional planning works and how it benefits metro Atlanta."
