Elections Day, July 31 began like any other summer day, but by the end of the day, the newly created House District 94 had its first Representative, Karen Bennett.
Karen Bennett ran against three other opponents, winning three to one in some precincts and definitively garnering an impressive overall 62% of the votes in a District that covers parts of DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties.
When asked what she attributes her success to, Bennett, in politics for the first time, stated, “a lot of hard work went into my campaign. Because of the loyal supporters who helped me inform the voters of my concerns for the safety, well-being, employment and education of the families and individuals who reside in the two counties, I won. I am able to now move beyond my previous volunteer efforts and work toward having even more of an impact on the communities that I have been elected to serve.”
Bennett went on to thank her husband and two children for their unfailing support and thanked all of volunteers who helped and the voters who turned out to vote for her.
Bennett ending by saying, “I am looking forward to beginning my work in the House as a servant of the voters of DeKalb and Gwinnett because I care so intently about the issues, the challenges and the triumphs we all experience.”
Bennett will be installed in January 2013 as the newly elected State Representative toHouse District 94.
