“Enhancements in the Stonecrest area are essential for economic growth which will improve property values, create jobs, and promote ‘hubs of opportunity’ for surrounding areas,” DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis said. “An investment in our neighborhoods and community improves quality of life.”

The project – the Stonecrest Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study – will result in a master plan that brings various stakeholders together to form a unified vision for the ultimate enhancement of the Stonecrest area.

The growth and development of the Stonecrest area and current economic conditions have led to the need for a proactive approach in guiding future land-use decisions. This study seeks to enhance the long-term economic viability, improve local congestion, create a healthy and safe place for pedestrians and cyclists, and promote easy access to jobs.

The Stonecrest LCI corridor is located in unincorporated south DeKalb County near the jurisdictional boundaries of Rockdale, Henry and Clayton counties. The City of Lithonia is located immediately to the north and the I-20 corridor bisects the area along the east-west axis.
