Woman Captures Mail Theft on Video

Incident occurred May 9 in unincorporated Stone Mountain.

Each week, Stone Mountain-Redan Patch takes a closer look at recent crime reports.

A woman reported to DeKalb County police that a package containing an Apple Ipad 2, valued at $515, as well as two baby toys, was taken from her front door in the 1500 block of Sagewood Cir. in unincorporated Stone Mountain.

But she had more than a claim. She had video of the May 9 incident.

The responding officer, called on May 10, watched the video and described in the report seeing a blue Dodge Caliber with Georgia tag BPQ1264 back down the driveway.

The officer's description of the front seat passenger is a black male, 18-28 years old, wearing braids, a white striped polo shirt and dark pants, who came out of the vehicle, walked up to the victim's door, took a package and returned to the car. The Dodge then drove off.

The officer told the woman to keep the video for a detective.

Besides the Ipad, the victim said the other items in the package were a Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether Toy ($16) and a Wubba Nub Lamb toy ($13).

I hope that this was not a juvenile - DeKalb County Juvenile Court would not accept the video of our mail thief...no, did they have the detective testify. Both the judge and the "special prosecutor" were negligent
