Violent Fight During Robbery Leads to Arrest

A suspect is in custody after threatening a store manager with a gun.

Police were called to an armed robbery in progress at an O'Reilly Auto Parts store in Stone Mountain on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.

They found the front door locked but could see two men fighting inside, one of whom had a gun, according to a police report. An officer used a baton to break the double pane glass door and they then entered the premises.

The report, written by Officer G.L. Lockett, continues: "I observed two males about 15 yards to the rear of the store in a struggle on the ground with the gun. As we approached, the suspect was able to gain control of the weapon, and stated to the victim that he was going to 'shoot him in the face.'"

Officers were able to grab the suspect by the arms and legs, allowing the weapon to fall to the ground. "The suspect was then placed into custody," the report concluded.
