Three in Police Custody After Early Morning Standoff

Incident on Covington HIghway temporary closed roads, AJC reports

Three people are in police custody and a busy intersection reopened following an early-morning standoff Tuesday at Covington Road near Glenwood Road, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

DeKalb police spokesman Lloyd Ruffin told the AJC that officers responded to a "person shot" call at a Maypop Lane home, which is off Snapfinger Woods Drive Monday night.

The officers found a man shot in the chest, who was transported to a local hospital and later died, according to the AJC article.

Ruffin told the AJC that around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, the SWAT team was sent to a home in the 4600 block of Covington Highway, where a "possible suspect in the shooting was located," he said.

Three adults surrendered at about 6:30 a.m. Covington Highway between Glenwood and Mercer roads had been closed during the standoff, but is now open.
