Suspect Arrested in Second Car Wash Burglary

Car wash on Main Street is burglarized twice in two months.

A suspect has been arrested in the Sunday night burglary of a car wash in Stone Mountain village, the second such reported crime at U-Wash in two months, Stone Mountain Police Chief Chancey Troutman said.

The person apprehended is suspected of burglarizing a car wash in Clarkston Monday night. A  car chase led to apprehending the suspect in Avondale that night, Troutman said.

Using video camera footage at U-Wash,  a self-serve car wash located at 5424 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain Police believe the truck used in all three burglaries is the same, and that could lead to solving the Jan. 22 burglary at U-Wash, Troutman said after a city council meeting Tuesday night.

In a report to the city council, Troutman said there had been 28 arrests in the month of February, with 240 citations and 308 calls to the police.
