Store Reports Shoplifter Took Soap, Baby Oil

DeKalb County Police responded on Feb. 22 to the Kroger at 1232 S. Hairston Road in unincorporated Stone Mountain about a shoplifter.

The complainant, whose position with the store was not mentioned in the report, told police she saw the male suspect placing four bottles of Dove soap and two bottles of baby oil inside his jacket.

The suspect went through the check out line to purchase an item, then tried to leave the store, according to the report. The complainant told police she stopped him and retrieved the items from inside the jacket.

She said the value of the six bottles came to $25.10.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and taken to the DeKalb County Jail. The complainant signed a transport request and got a warrant for the suspect's arrest at DeKalb Magistrate  Court.

Phone Stolen By "Friend"

A complainant told DeKalb Police that on Feb. 21 she visited a friend (the suspect) in the 1600 block of Pine Glen Circle in nearby unincorporated Decatur, and when she was leaving, the suspect took her phone and fled. The phone's value is listed at $50 in the report.

$1,000 Car Part Stolen

A woman reported to DeKalb Police that between Feb. 25, 6 p.m. and Feb. 26, 11 a.m., in the 1500 block of Stoneleigh Way in unincorporated Stone Mountain, an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from her silver 2000 Toyota 4Runner. The report listed the value of the catalytic converter at $1,000.
