Starlight Six Drive-In Shooting: Where The Case Stands

Suspect remains in jail.

The DeKalb County Police Department continues to investigate the murder case involving Quentric S. Williams, the man accused of killing Mitt-Chai Lenix, a patron at the Starlight Six Drive-in Theatre last week.

Williams, 32, has already spent time in state prison on drug possession charges including for:

  • Cocaine possession arrest in Gwinnett County on March 1, 2000
  • Marijuana possession arrest in Gwinnett County on April 6, 1999
  • Cocaine possession arrest in Gwinnett County on April 6, 1999

Williams was sentenced to prison twice and served terms from Aug. 19, 2009 through March 23,2011. Another sentence ran from July 13, 2000 to July 13, 2004.

His most recent stay was in Dooly State Prison, a medium security facility in Unadilla, Ga.

We asked DeKalb County Police Department officials where the case stands now:

Q. We have a copy of Williams' charge report and it says he paid bail? Has he been released?

A. Williams is still in jail without bond on the Murder charge.  There have been bonds set only for additional misdemeanor charges.

Q. Is the DCPD closer to releasing details of the argument that led to the shooting?

A. Not at this time since it is still under investigation.

Q. was struck and killed near the area by a DeKalb police officer who was on his way to aid in the chase and search for Williams. Since you could argue that that would not have happened if the Lenix shooting had not taken place, can Williams be charged with that death, too?

A. Georgia does have a statute for felony murder to cover deaths that occur during the commission of a felony. The district attorney will make the decision as to whether the statute applies in this incident.
