A sixth grade female student who was standing at a Stone Mountain bus stop Tuesday morning was approached by a man in a car who attempted to grab her. She escaped unharmed. The following is a letter sent to parents by the principal of the girl's school.
It was reported to Freedom Middle School by a sixth grade female student that she was approached by a man at her bus stop in the Nielson Drive/Nielson Court area who then attempted to grab her from his vehicle on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013.
The individual was driving a gold Nissan and was described by the student as a Caucasian male. The student informed the Freedom Middle School staff upon arriving at school, and the District’s Police Department immediately began an investigation.
Additionally, the District’s Transportation
Department has been notified of the reported incident so that bus
drivers can monitor this region as they drive their routes each morning
The safety of our students is paramount. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of this incident so that we can work together to make sure that all of our children are kept safe while they are in school, while they are traveling to and from school, and while they are home. Please encourage your children to report any suspicious activity to you and the school, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you.
Sincerely,Mr. Corey Davidson, Principal, Freedom Middle School
