Suspect in Killing Arrested

Marcus Ventress has been charged in the killing of Ryan Guider, whose funeral ended with a deadly shooting in a church parking lot.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Squad and the US Marshal’s  Special Task Force have captured Marcus Ventress, who is facing charges in the death of Ryan Guider.

The events following Guider's funeral made national news. In the parking lot of in Stone Mountain on June 7, police say Carlos Henderson, and Delmetrius Heard, opened fire, shooting each other and injuring two others. Henderson and Heard died.

According to the release from the Sheriff's office, investigators tracked Ventress to an apartment in Columbus, Ga. Ventress was arrested without incident at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

In addition to murder charges, Ventress will be charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting into an apartment thought to be Guider's on May 25, the Sheriff's office said.

Guider's killing "was said to be an act of vengeance as sources say that Guider burglarized the home of Ventress stealing jewelry, cash and drugs and punching Ventress’ mother," the sheriff's office has said.
