Report: Drive-In Shooting, Pedestrian Death Tragically Linked

AJC reports that a DeKalb county police officer was headed toward a chase of a shooting suspect when he hit a pedestrian on Memorial Drive.

The DeKalb county police officer who struck and killed a pedestrian on Memorial Drive early Tuesday was on his way to help in the chase of the suspect in a deadly shooting at a drive-in, an article on ajc.com reports.

According to the article, pedestrian Clinton Hightower, 27, died at the scene. A witness told WSB TV thatΒ the police officer was speeding and had no sirens or lights flashing when Hightower was hit.

The ajc.com story said police officers had chased Quentric S. Williams, the suspect in the shooting death of Mitt Lenix at Starlight Six Drive-in, to Lilburn-Stone Mountain Road, where Williams wrecked his car, then escaped on foot.
