Police: Sergeant Arrested for Obstructing Officers

Sgt. Jerry R. Banks is charged with misdemeanor obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers during an investigation.

DeKalb County Police have arrested Sgt. Jerry R. Banks, who is charged with misdemeanor obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers during an investigation, the department said in a statement Friday.

The DeKalb Police Major Felony Unit is looking into a reported case of terroristic threats and acts involving Cherise McMoore, 33. Police said while detectives were executing a search warrant at her Lithonia residence on Browns Mill Ferry Road, she arrived with her companion, Banks, 42.Β

While at the location, Sgt. Banks interfered with the investigation and was taken into custody. He is charged with misdemeanor Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers.

Ms. McMoore was also taken into custody and is charged with Terroristic Threats and Acts, a felony.

The investigation is continuing. No additional information is available at this time.
