A 24-year-old Stone Mountain man pretended to be a teenage boy in online discussions with a 13-year-old Canton girl, then tried to solicit her for sex, the spokeswoman for the said tonight.
Kyle Alexander Williams, 24, was arrested at his DeKalb County home on Wednesday and charged with electronically furnishing obscene material to minors and violation of the Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Act of 1999, Sgt. Stacy Bailey said.
Wednesday's arrest culminated a nearly month-long investigation that began when the girl's father filed a police report.
He was concerned about inappropriate discussions on a social networking site between his daughter and an unknown male he thought was 17 years old, Bailey said.
Undercover officers began communicating online with the suspect.
"It was determined the suspect was Wiliiams, and he was not 17 years old as the father originally suspected," Bailey said. "As the detectives continued to work undercover with Williams, he solicited a meeting with detectives, who he thought was the 13-year-old female, to engage in sexual acts."
Williams also sent photos of his genitals, Bailey said.
He is in custody at the in Canton.
