Police: Victim Carjacked, Shot in DeKalb

16-year-old suspect arrested; victim is in serious condition; police still looking for second suspect.

A 16-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a carjacking and robbery in DeKalb County that began just before midnight last night, police say.Β  One of the victims was shot and is in serious condition.

The suspect faces multiple charges such as aggravated assault, armed robbery and kidnapping. Police are still looking for a second suspect.

The man and a woman who was traveling with him were carjacked around 11:45 pm June 9 at a traffic light at Canberra Dr. at Devon Way. The armed suspects forced their way into the car and drove around to find an ATM. At some point during the incident, police say, the man was shot.

The man was able to flee to a business on Covington Highway and police were called.

The female victim was found with the car. She told police she had been sexually assaulted during the incident.

Detectives are still determining time line in which the events occurred throughout the evening, according to the release, so no additional locations and details can be provided.
