Mother and Son Escape Morning Fire

The house caught fire around 3 a.m. while occupants were sleeping.

A woman and her son escaped a fire that destroyed a quarter of their home early Thursday. 

Fire broke out around 3 a.m. at the house on Shore Drive in Lithonia, 11 Alive reports. The couple woke up and were able to get out safely. 

Firefighters believe it started in a living room couch, but are still investigating the cause.
