Creflo Dollar Jr., whose megachurch World Changers has a satellite church in Norcross, was arrested Friday in Fayette County for allegedly assaulting his 15-year-old daughter, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He's been charged with simple battery, family violence and cruelty to children, according to the police report. Investigator Brent Rowan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office told Norcross Patch that Dollar was booked into the county jail around 2 a.m. but was released later that same morning.

He was released on a $5,000 bond, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to CNN.com, his daughter claimed she argued with her father about attending a party.  She told deputies that he put his hands around her throat and tried to choke her.  He then "slammed her to the ground, punched her and beat her with his shoe."

Another daughter corroborated her sister's testimony.

Dollar told police that he did not strike her at all, but instead tried to "restrain" her when she became disrespectful. She started to hit back, he said, so he wrestled her to the floor and spanked her.

Dollar runs Creflo Dollar industries, and his main World Changers Church is in College Park. The church has 15 locations across multiple states, includng Athens and Marietta, according to its website. The Norcross satellite meets at 6920 Jimmy Carter Blvd.

Dollar is often mentioned in lists of prominent Georgia pastors.

If the daughter was disrespectful she should have gotten her butt spanked. She is not grown and should do what her father says. We live in an age now when a child gets a spanking for being disrespectful it makes the AJC.

Spanked, yes. Slammed to the ground, punched and beaten with a shoe... not so much.

I am glad he didn't spare the rod.

"Spare the rod"? We're not living in biblical times. We are more sophisticated and so should our handling of situations....unless you want to bring back stoning and crucifixion.
