Man Steals Store's Cash Register

A man took off with a cash register from the Walgreens at 4765 Redan Road on Monday, according to a DeKalb County police report.

The store manager told police the suspect came into the store at 8:30 a.m. Monday. The manager showed police the surveillance video where the suspect acted as if he were reading a magazine.

When the manager walked away from the counter, the man ran behind the counter, grabbed the cash register and bolted. According to the police report, he got away in what appeared to be a mid-1990s model red Toyota Camry.

He didn't get away with much: The manager told police there was only $100 inside the register.

At about 11 a.m., the officer was dispatched to a call about a cash register located at a dead end in the 1000 block of Avondridge Ct. The complainant said she saw a red older model vehicle in her neighborhood the previous day. The police officer turned the cash register over to a crime scene unit for finger prints, and gave a copy of the surveillance video to detectives.

The suspect was described by the Walgreens manager as a dark skin black male wearing a red T-shirt and jeans.
