Man Robbed of iPhone After Answering Craig's List Ad

The incident happened near S. Hairston Rd. on May 6 in unincorporated Stone Mountain, according to the DeKalb county police report.

Am Atlanta man who answered a Craig's List ad for an iPhone ended up getting robbed of his own.

The victim told DeKalb county police he responded to the ad for the iPhone 5, which was being sold for $500. On May 6 he agreed to meet the person who placed the ad (the suspect), at the Kroger store, 1232 S. Hairston Rd.

But the suspect told the man to meet him instead in the 4700 block of Fieldgreen Dr.

The suspect was standing outside on the street when the victim came to the location, the report states. The man let him in the passenger side of his car.

The suspect pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the victim, the report states.

The man told police that the suspect said, "Give me your money and your phone."

The victim handed over his iPhone 4s, valued at $500, and $500 in cash.

The suspect then got out of the car and took off running west on Fieldgreen Drive, then heading north on S. Hairston.Β 

The victim chased the suspect in his vehicle for a time, but lost him. He pulled into a parking lot at the Reserve at Stonecreek apartments on S. Hairston, canceled his debit and credit cards, and called police.
