Local Woman Arrested in Nail Salon Fight

Police now have a suspect in the Walmart nail salon brawl caught on camera.

A local woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a videotaped nail salon brawl at a .

Monnessia Wright, 35, was arrested at her home in unincorporated Stone Mountain, on November 28, following an investigation by county police and the quick-action of a Walmart security guard. She was charged with affray (fighting of two or more persons) and aggravated battery.

After the fight, the security officer followed the suspect outside, and then noted her car's description and tag number. From that Gwinnett County police were able to connect the vehicle to Wright.

Wright -- -- is suspected of throwing a porcelain bowl that shattered and injured a bystander. A witness indicated Wright's involvement, according to police.

That victim is identified as 17-year-old Ashley Corbett, was was in the Centerville Highway Walmart salon with her mother when the fight broke out. The shattered bowl, which police say missed the intended target, hit Corbet, cutting her leg, chin and lip and breaking two teeth.

Corbett was evaluated by emergency workers, and then transported for medical attention by her mother.

A witness had recorded the incident on her cell phone’s video camera. That video was later passed on to media and police detectives.

Wright is in custody at Gwinnett Detention Center.
