Local Police Officers Get Special Recognition

A joint event by Tucker and Stone Mountain officials celebrated the work of six policemen.

The Stone Mountain CID co-sponsored the annual holiday and awards luncheon at the DeKalb Police Tucker Precinct on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The department recognized officers serving at the Tucker Precinct, including Sgt. O.B. Parker, supervisor of the year; Officer T.L. Churchill, officer of the year; and Detective A. Mawson, detective of the year.

An award was presented to Sgt. Anthony Shover for his efforts to keep the community safe.

The Tucker Community Improvement District picked Sgt. D. H. Jenkins and Officer D. E. Meeks as Officers of the Year, citing their work in apprehending suspects of business burglaries.  

Present at the luncheon were DeKalb Police Chief Cedric Alexander, DeKalb Police Assistant Chief Harris, DeKalb County Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton, and Tucker CID President Ann Rosenthal, among others.
