Suspect Visits Girl, Seeks Closet When Mother Comes Knocking

A look inside recent police reports.

DeKalb County Police responded to the 1800 block of Lake Point Drive in unincorporated Stone Mountain on Dec. 10, meeting the complainant, a mother who told police that her daughter, 14, had been in her room when she attempted to take in laundry, but the door was locked.

The mother told police she knocked and the daughter opened the door after a few minutes, telling her mother she was sleeping, which is why it took so long to come to the door. The mother also reported that the daughter was "acting strange" when she entered the room, according to the police report. The mother told police she got past her daughter and opened the closet door, where the suspect was in the closet.

According to the report, the daughter said the suspect came to the home around 7:30 p.m. and she let him in through her bedroom window. The suspect advised that he and the daughter had been sitting on the bed talking; the mother started knocking on the door, so the suspect went into the closet. The suspect stated "she told me she was 17," saying he did not know she was 14, according to the report.
