Inside the Police Reports: Man Claims Lithonia Friend Helped Rob Him in Tucker

The incident occurred at a Motel 6 on Oct. 28.

A Massachusetts man told DeKalb County police his friend helped an armed man rob him at a Tucker motel on Sunday, Oct. 28.

The 25-year-old victim said he was in his room at the Motel 6 at 2810 Lawrenceville Highway when his friend – a Lithonia man – and an unknown suspect knocked on the front door shortly after 5 p.m., the police report said.

The victim let the two in, and his friend asked to borrow $10. The suspect pulled out a black pistol and demanded money from both of them. The suspect took money from the victim's front pants pocket and struck him in the head with the butt of the pistol.

The robber then forced both men into the bathroom while he rummaged through their bags in the living room. The two men remained in the bathroom until the suspect left, and then the victim's friend left, saying he wanted his cell phone back. But he never returned, the victim told police. He said he believes his friend set him up, but he could only name the street on which his friend lives, not the full address.

The robber left with $400 in cash, a laptop worth about $300 and a cell phone worth about $120. The victim was not injured.
