High Speed Chase Ends in Murder Suspect's Arrest

Tora Reed led the sheriff's department through South Deshong neighborhoods before he was arrested.

The DeKalb Sheriff's department arrested Tora Reed, a murder suspect, after a high-speed chase through South Deshong neighborhoods Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies spotted Reed's Chevy Trailblazer around Stephenson Road. Reed took off, driving up to 65 miles an hour through the neighborhoods, before surrendering in the parking lot of Fairfield Baptist Church, the sheriff's department said in a press release.

Reed's toddler son was found in the back seat of the Chevy, and Reed's father and another passenger were in the car. No one was injured in the chase.

Reed is a suspect in the Feb. 4 killing of Martin Villa Gomez, "who was shot twice in the head and his body set on fire in his Ford truck," according to the release.

Reed's father, Thomas Jefferson Reed, said he "had no idea that his son was in trouble or wanted for murder," the sheriff's department said.
