DeKalb County police on
Monday released a picture of the white camper truck they believe hit and killed
a 2-year-old boy, ran over his sister, near the Walmart on Tucker Norcross
Police say the driver hit the 2-year-old boy and his 4-year-old sister as they were standing next to the road with their mother about 5 p.m. Saturday.
Patch reader Jasmine Mitchell wrote that she was driving by the scene when the incident happened, and can’t believe the driver would not stop to help.
“I will be praying for this poor angel's family,” Mitchell wrote. “May he rest in peace... and may his family find comfort... and please let them catch this cold-hearted animal that kept driving.”
WSB TV reports the driver pulled up to the stop sign, then proceeded to turn onto Tucker Norcross Road. As he did, his vehicle ran over both of the children. Both children were taken to Scottish Rite Hospital, where the 2-year-old boy later died.
The girl is reported in stable condition Monday afternoon.
Police are now looking for the driver of the vehicle, described as a small, older model white truck with a camper on the back.
