Gun-Waving Thieves Rob Waffle House on Panola Near Covington Hwy.

The incident happened early Wednesday morning, according to a DeKalb County police report.

Two men robbed the Waffle House at 2255 Panola Rd. in unincorporated Lithonia early Wednesday morning and took off with about $400, according to a DeKalb County police report.

There were no injuries reported in the robbery that took place between 3:24 a.m. and 4:13 a.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told police that the two men entered the restaurant, both wearing black cloths over their faces and gray hoodies.

The men also had black handguns that they waved and pointed at witnesses, the police report states.

The first witness said one of the suspects, who was wearing a red shirt, came up to the register and said, "y'all know that time it is, this ain't no joke, lay it down," according to the report.

The second witness -- an employee working the register -- said she grabbed about $400 from the reigster and gave it to suspect in the red shirt.

A third witness who was in the back of the restaurant heard what was going on in the front of the store and activated the panic alarm.

The investigation was turned over to another detective's unit, the report states.
