Four children and one adult were involved in a crash near the main entrance of Stone Mountain Park.
The driver of a Chrysler Pacifica was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 78 west and lost control of the car. He crashed into the wood line, according to DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish, who said Anthony Johnson was driving near the Hugh Howell Road exit when he ran off the road.
A 15-year-old female, 11-year-old female, 8-year-old male, and 9-year-old male were inside the car at the time of the crash.
After the accident Johson walked to the with his two sons for help. According to a report on 11Alive, the man told employees of the restaurant that a vehicle struck his car in the rear, causing it to spin. Another vehicle then struck it in the side. Police are investigating whether other vehicles were involved.
When officers arrived on the scene, two females were located in the car. The 15-year-old, Corliss Johnson, was deceased. The 11-year-old was in critical condition. The two boys were later also transported to the hospital for observation.
One has since been released.
Investigators have not determined at this point what time the accident occurred, but DKPD was notified around 10:45 p.m. by Gwinnett authorities
Anthony Johnson faces multiple charges, including DUI, Vehicular Homicide in the 1st Degree and Failure to Maintain a Lane.
