Fire Destroys Home

No one injured in blaze that began in the kitchen from an unattended pot left on stove, fire official says.

An unattended pot left on the stove led to a fire that destroyed a home at 845 Meadow Rock Drive Tuesday morning.

"It's a total loss," said fire Capt. Scott Votava.

The homeowner told the fire department that he had accidentally left the pot on the stove, then went to visit a relative at a nursing home, Votava said.

There was "heavy smoke and fire upon arrival," Votava said. "It had a good head start on us."

The fire was brought under control fairly quickly, he said. The home was vacant at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
