Arrest Made in Off-Duty Cop Shooting

A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in the shooting and robbery of an off-duty DeKalb County policeman.

DeKalb County police on Tuesday arrested a 21-year-old suspect in the shooting of an off-duty cop at Landmark Mountain View Apartments.

"Evidence in the case helped detectives identify this man as a suspect in this armed robbery and shooting," police department spokeswoman Mekka Parish said in a statement. The suspect "faces charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault against a police officer."

Officer Landers Burton was shot defending himself while two men reportedly robbed him late Monday night at the apartment complex in unincorporated Stone Mountain.
