Armed Robber at Store Demands Money and Cigarettes

The suspect was stuck inside briefly before escaping.

A cashier at a local Family Dollar store told police a man pointed a gun at him and demanded money and cigarettes.

The robbery happened Jan. 18 at a location on North Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road at closing time. A man was "lingering around inside," according to a witness who said the front doors had been locked after a female customer left the store.

The suspect, described as a white male, 5' 6" and 150-170 lbs., wearing a red hat, blue hoodie, blue jeans, and blue Adidas sneakers, told the cashier to "put the cash in the bag, and some Marlboros and Newports," police said.

He then tried to leave but was unable to open the locked doors, so the witness had to let him out. Investigators have been provided with video footage of the entire incident.
