Annual Police Appreciation Gathering Coming Up

Pride Rings in Stone Mountain (PRISM) will sponsor the 15th Annual Police Appreciation Luncheon for two precincts, Tucker and North/Center, and three city departments - Clarkston, Stone Mountain and Pine Lake.  

The event is on Dec. 13 at Georgia Perimeter College's Clarkston Campus. "The police department personnel enjoy this opportunity to get together since is the only time they can meet for something other than official business," said Betty Efird of PRISM. "I know of no other organization that honors these particular agencies at such an event and we consider it a privilege."

PRISM also provides boxes of food and gift cards for seven fire stations in central DeKalb. The firefighters who have been in the area for at least a year look forward to these gifts because they must provide their meals while on duty. The gift cards can supplement their cost for food while on duty and the box of food includes power bars and other food they can eat when they don’t have time to prepare a meal.     

"As a member of the PRISM board, I am proud of these events and of the fact that members as well as other individuals, civic and other service organizations, political leaders and others have kept these events alive for 14 years and will continue to do so," Efird said.
