Three people face criminal charges in the death of camera assistant Sarah Jones after a train struck several crew members on the set of “Midnight Rider,” a movie about Georgia musician Gregg Allman.

Director Randall Miller, his wife, Jody Savin, and executive producer Jay Sedrish all face charges of involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass, according to Fox Atlanta.

Production of “Midnight Rider” came to a halt in February when a freight train plowed into the set, injuring six members of the crew and killing Jones, according to a previous Patch story.

Investigators say, Miller, the crew, and actor William Hurt -- starring as Allman -- were filming on a railroad bridge over the Altamaha River near Savannah, Patch reports. The train plowed through the set at 55 mph, and investigators say the crew did not have a permit from CSX Railroad to film on the tracks.

WSAV-TV reports Steve Lowry, whose law firm represents Jones’ family, said the charges were “not a surprise.”

Randall Miller previously said location permits and safety precautions were not his responsibility, Patch reports. His assistants were in charge of it. Allman supposedly knew the scene was taking place on the tracks.

Jones’ family has also filed a civil lawsuit in her death, WSAV-TV reports. Another lawyer from Lowry’s firm said the accident was a “clear-cut case of negligence.”

Jones’ friends and family launched “Slates for Sarah” to honor her. Productions worldwide wrote her name on slates -- the board the claps together at the beginning of a scene -- and posted pictures on social media. The Slates for Sarah Facebook page to date has 72,109 likes.
