I'd like to introduce you to a neighbor whose name really fits her......Betty Weed, the keeper of gardens, plants and bird habitats. She's special to us because she and her late husband, Marvin, kept our entrance grounds trimmed and flowered for many years.
Not to slight anyone else who may have assisted in the upkeep, but I'd only seen the Weeds doing this until recent years. Due to the natural challenges of age, she no longer does this labor of love.
Another couple is now continuing to keep the area. There are many people who do similar labors of love without being part of a clean-up project or an organization, though these are necessary and important.

My husband, John, picks up trash just because it shows that we care for our surroundings. So I say" hats off' to Betty Weed in Goldleaf subdivision and all other 'keepers of the gates' in our neighborhoods.
