What you don’t start Christmas shopping in July? Well, no matter what time of year or for what purpose, many of us still love a little “retail therapy.”
We find pleasure in the time spent bargain shopping and release our minds of current worries. Travel beyond the local mall to a location that can help you relish in retail escape while providing unique gifts for anyone on your holiday list.
Sautee, Ga., is just south of Helen and is about 1 ½ hours away. Unlike the German themed Helen, Sautee is not as tourist focused and her unique shops offer country welcome with craftsmanship that is beyond anything you will find at local craft fairs.
Your adventure should start in the artful town Nacoochee Village. There you will find many walking distance choices of shopping delight- coffee shop, pottery, art, interior décor, antiques, pizza and a winery.
Next, a short drive away you will find the shops at Sautee Pointe. More art, antiques, coffee and even a Gone with the Wind style museum stop.
Don’t miss stops off the main Highway 17 including the Gourd Place and the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association gift shop and education center.
When you get hungry dine in style at the Nachooche Grill or the Vines. If you find that you have shopped until you dropped, country luxury is available at the highly rated Stovall House or Lucille’s Mountain Inn.
Ah, I feel better just thinking about it. Make your list, check it twice, and don’t forget to buy yourself something nice!
