Lithonia Basketball Player Dies Suddenly

Terrell Coleman was a freshman at Miller Grove High School.

Terrell Coleman, star basketball player for Miller Grove High School in Lithonia, died Sunday after playing in an all-star game at the Action Sports Academy on Memorial Drive.

The 15-year-old freshman, nick-named "Too Tall," also played for the Atlanta Celtics, a team for students interested in playing college basketball, according to WXIA. Coleman was regarded as a bright prospect.

Celtics coach Chris Anderson said Coleman had come out of the game before it ended and passed out on the sidelines. School coach Sharman White said Coleman "was part of our basketball family at Miller Grove. He was a phenomenal basketball player, but I truly have to say he was even a better person."

The school sent out a tweet on Monday that said in part: "Condolences to the Coleman family... May God comfort their mind and soothe their hearts."

Coleman had reportedly drawn the interest of several national college programs. His cause of death is unknown, but the AJC reported he had a heart condition.
