What Authors Can Learn From the Trayvon Martin Case

Watching the media teaches us many things, this might be one of them.

For weeks —even months perhaps—television stations were flocking to find any tidbit they could when it came to the Trayvon Martin case.  Magazines wrote about it. Radio stations covered it. Social networking sites were abuzz about it, and people in general were talking about it over the water cooler. Then, the day came when one could hear a pin drop. Why? The world is waiting. Waiting for what, you ask? Waiting for the trial to begin.

For an author, writing and releasing a book can take a similar journey.  A book can send the media frantic to find any tidbit  they can on it.  A book can have magazines writing about it. Radio stations will line up to talk about it and well, social media can be abuzz about it. Then one day, the Author hears a pen drop. Translation: The sales began to slow and the media buzz and hype all come to a shocking end.

So, what can an author learn from all of this?  Here's the point: Never let your author pen…drop. Keep writing. Be ready to release your next book.  Avid readers, and perhaps the media, are waiting for it.
