POLITICIANS: De Kalb Residents Pay

Years ago, I called a meeting with Mr. Ellis, our CEO.  Me, a few of my neighbors, police and Code officers sat down with him regarding the issue of declining property values.  Personally, I was appalled at the ever-growing eyesores of developers who were clearing land, creating vast, ugly eyesores, then running out of money, packing up and leaving, thus leaving us, the good residents of De Kalb, to take the fall for the failure by way of declining property values.

I presented Mr. Ellis with photos of the damage, and suggestions to resolve the growing problem.  It's simple....BONDS!  I pointed out that even the Insurance Commissioner requires insurance companies to bond to ensure they will pay claims.  Deer in the headlights.  He looked at his assistant and said "Do we do anything like that? Do we require developers to get bonds?"  He left the meeting early, and left us all scratching our heads.  And here we are... so I'm thinking the developers were so deeply indebted to Mr. Ellis, they ran out of money for the project.

This, my friends, is where we are today.  I'm no politician, but the evidence speaks for itself.

I cannot reiterate enough to fellow De Kalb residents....stay where you are, invest in your home and property, stop allowing the scurge and speak up! Do the little things to keep our county beautiful, and get involved, as only we can return our fine county to that which it once was!
