'Let Freedom Ring at Stone Mountain' Event Wednesday

The event coincides with national celebrations of Dr. King's speech and nonviolent protest for racial equality.

Sen. Emanuel Jones (D-Decatur), chairman of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council, invites the public to attend “Let Freedom Ring at Stone Mountain” on Wednesday, Aug 28 at 1:30 p.m.  

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, the event will coincide with national and international celebrations of Dr. King’s prolific speech and nonviolent protest for racial equality.

A bell ringing ceremony will conclude this event in unison with the additional programs taking place around the world.

Sen. Jones will be joined by DeKalb County Interim CEO Lee May, Stone Mountain Mayor Pat Wheeler, and Department of Community Affairs Commissioner Gretchen Corbin.  

The event takes place inside the park at Stone Mountain Summit, 1000 Robert E Lee Blvd.
