Stone Mountain Village Readies for Christmas Parade, Fireworks

Festivities run from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.

The annual Stone Mountain Village Christmas Parade and Fireworks is a fun, family event held the evening after Thanksgiving in the Historic Village of Stone Mountain, GA. 

Festivities run from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and includes bag-pipers, the amphibious duck from Stone Mountain Park, classic cars and motorcycles, elves, merchant cars and floats, choir music, the Conundrums Women’s Drumming group and more. 

Children’s activities including marshmallow roasting and a letter writing station for letters to Santa will be available from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Santa’s arrival in the parade and the lighting of the tree are highlights before the fireworks extravaganza at 7 p.m.

The Christmas Parade is sponsored by Main Street Stone Mountain, a non-profit organization charged with the redevelopment efforts of Historic Stone Mountain Village. The Main Street designation is set forth by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and provides a framework for revitalization which includes four points or development areas, 1.) Design – improving the aesthetics of the area, 2.) Economic Development – attracting businesses and improving infrastructure, 3.) Promotions – creating events to promote the city and 4.) Organization – developing the strategies, organizational structure and funding for the redevelopment efforts. Main Street is directed by a volunteer board of involved citizens.
