Volunteers Needed for Stream Cleanup

DECATUR - In honor of Earth Day, DeKalb County Adopt-A-Stream is hosting a stream cleanup on Saturday, April 16, 9 a.m. to noon at Everett Park, 5096 Klondike Road in Lithonia. Volunteers are needed to help remove trash and debris from the banks of the South River.

Volunteers should be prepared to get in and out of the river, wade in knee-deep water and walk over rocks and logs. Closed-toe shoes are required. Hats, work gloves, bug repellant and clothes that can get dirty are recommended. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a permission slip. Children under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian present.

Parking at the location is limited and carpooling is highly recommended.
