City of Stone Mountain Candidates: Paul Hollis

Hollis is running for city council.

Municipal elections take place in Stone Mountain on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for mayoral and city council posts.

Paul Hollis is running for the open seat (Post 2) of council member Cyril Mungal, who resigned to run for mayor. He has lived in Stone Mountain since 1977 and works in insurance.

Transparency in local government is key to Hollis' strategy, emphasizing the need to keep citizens informed of council activity.

"The city does not support merchants," Hollis said, adding that they are charged an "exorbitant" fee for business licenses. He says funds are not being spent wisely and believes controls should be put in place to protect reserves and maintain a balanced budget. "Simple math matters," he told Patch.

"Hopefully we've hit rock bottom," he said. "Now we have to look to the future."
