Friday is National Take Your Dog To Work Today.

Stone Mountain has lots of dog owners who are interested in looking out for man's best friend. So we thought our community should know about Friday, June 22, as National Take Your Dog To Work Day.

“Take Your Dog to Work Day was created 13 years ago by Pet Sitters International to celebrate the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue organizations,” said Lauren Genkinger, president of Adopt A Golden Atlanta, which is encouraging is encouraging metro Atlanta employers to open their workplace to employees’ four-legged friends today.

Adopt a Golden Atlanta is a volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to finding warm, loving permanent homes for homeless Golden Retrievers regardless of medical needs or age.

In Stone Mountain there are at least two rescue groups with dogs who would love a forever home and maybe even a trip to the office: and . Paws Atlanta and are just over the unincorporated Stone Mountain line with Decatur addresses.

Doggie Harmony, a Brookhaven-based pet rescue and relocation organization, has at least one golden retriever available for adoption on this special day. So we encourage all dog owners, potential owners and lovers of canines in our community to give their four-legged friends some extra TLC today.
