Updated: New L.A. Fitness Centers Could Employ Up to 100 People

Updated: Bill Horner, senior vice president/chief real estate officer with Fitness International, LLC, told Patch on Monday that the new L.A. Fitness location near U.S. 78 is slated to open by the end of the year; the fitness club on Panola Rd. and Covington Highway is scheduled to open in the later part of the first quarter of 2013.

Two L.A. Fitness centers going up in the Stone Mountain and Lithonia areas could each employ 40 to 50 people -- or, up to 100 combined -- which is typical at a facility, an official with the company said.

Bill Horner, senior vice president/chief real estate officer with Fitness International, LLC -- formerly L.A. Fitness International LLC -- told Patch through e-mail correspondence that positions include general manager, member services director, sales associates, personal trainers, class instructors, member check-in staff, baby sitters and porters.

"There is of course significant employment during construction as almost every trade is needed to complete the build out of our facility with all the different amenities we typically have in our Clubs," Horner said.

L.A. Fitness on Panola will be across from the shopping center anchored by Big Lots and the now-shuttered Frank Theatres.

L.A. Fitness is  is constructing a new facility where the old Kroger at East Park Place used to be.
