Hundreds Still Without Water in South DeKalb

Tens of thousands of gallons of water have been spewing along Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road since Sunday morning.

More than 24 hours after a car struck a fire hydrant on Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road, hundreds of people still don't have waterΒ in south DeKalb, as crews can't find a way to repair the damaged water line.

CBS Atlanta is reporting that residents in the area said a car struck the hydrant sometime after midnight Sunday on Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road near Manassas Run.

DeKalb County spokesman Burke Brennan told CBS Atlanta News crews cannot find the turn off valve due to the antiquated system.
