Chocolate, shopping and snow -- who could ask for more?
Venturing out this weekend? Here are some events going on in and around Stone Mountain:
1. What: Chocolate 101
When/where: Saturday, Dec. 3, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Redan-Trotti Library, 1569 Wellborn Road, Lithonia.

Why go: One word - chocolate. Oh, yes, you can also learn simple ways of creating interesting gifts with chocolate.
Cost: Free. Open to first 15 participants. Call or visit branch to register 770-482-3821.

2. What: White Elephant Gift Exchange with a Twist
When/where: Saturday, Dec. 3, 2-4 p.m., Stonecrest Library, 3123 Klondike Road, Lithonia.
Why go: Aimed at teens (13-17), this program is a way to pass along a gently-used book and have some fun while doing so. So bring that wrapped-up book and be prepared to play the White Elephant Game. The library says participants could walk away with a newly-published book, a book signed by an author, or simply a great read.
Cost: Free- just bring that gently used book. Open to first 25 participants.
3. What: Holiday in Smoke Rise, the 30th annual arts and crafts show.
When/where: Saturday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., .
Why go: With more than 100 vendors, it should be easy to pick up a few holiday gifts as well as something for yourself. Also, raffles will take place throughout the day. Organizers say sorry, no strollers.
Cost: Free to browse.
4. What: Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis
When/where: Saturday, Dec. 3, 9-11 a.m., .
Why go: You get to help others in a healthy and kind of zany way -- organizers say feel free to wear a holiday-themed costime and tie jingle bells to your shoelaces.
Cost: $35 for adults, $20 for ages 12 and under.
5. What: Date Night Pottery at
When/where: Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m., ART Station, 5384 Manor Dr., Stone Mountain.
Why go: It's a creative way to spend an evening with a loved one and get to meet other folks, too.
Cost: $79 per pair; reservations are required, either online or by calling 770-469-1105.
5. What: Snow Mountain

Why go: It's all the fun of snow without the slippery driving conditions.
