Turns out, coming in second isn't so bad after all.
Carmen Burns, from Stone Mountain, won $1 million in the April 28 Powerball drawing, the Georgia Lottery said Tuesday. Burns matched the first five numbers from the drawing, getting the very nice second prize.
The Quik Pik was sold at the Quik Mart at 2530 Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain.
The lottery said the winning numbers from the drawing were: 31-39-40-57-58 and the Powerball was 33.
The Georgia Lottery said Burns claimed her prize Monday at its Atlanta headquarters.
Burns is the second person in Stone Mountain to hit it big in the Georgia Lottery recently.
In March, Larry Lucas, a retiree in Stone Mountain, won $500,000 playing the Georgia Lottery instant game World Poker Tour.
Powerball drawings are every Wednesday and Saturday.
Wednesday’s jackpot: $50 million.
