Today in Georgia History: On this day in 1774, only Georgia -- of all the American colonies -- was not represented at the meeting of the first Continental Congress in Philadelphia, according to the Georgia Historical Society. The delegates who attended decided on a boycott of all British goods; Georgia needed help from the British against the Creek on its borders, the United States History site says.
