Today in Georgia history: On this day in 1862, Union spy James Andrews, leader of the raiders who stole The General and led the The Great Locomotive Chase, was taken from Chattanooga to Atlanta and hanged as a spy. He was buried near where he was hanged, but later his remains were re-interred at the Federal cemetery in Chattanooga
