Great weather, interesting Georgia history, former Georgia Tech star arrested
Happy Tuesday, everyone. Here are a few things to know as you get started:
The weather: High of only 92 -- it’s starting to come down a little. Low of 70 tonight. Perfect evening for a walk.
Arrested: Former Georgia Tech basketball star Javaris Crittenton was arrested in California Monday night, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He’s been charged in the shooting death of a mother of four. Crittendon’s lawyer says he’s innocent.
Later this morning on Stone Mountain Patch: Community leaders and volunteers cleaned up a section of Memorial Drive over the weekend, with great results.
Winning Cash 3 numbers: Monday's midday draw, 065. Total payout, $93,795. Evening draw, 769. Total payout: $1,330,615.
Today in Georgia history: Not exactly a proud moment for Atlanta, but...on this day in 2004, former Atlanta mayor Bill Campbell was indicted on several charges for financial improprieties. And here’s something you don't hear every day: on August 30, 1979, President Jimmy Carter reported being attacked by a rabbit during a canoe trip near his hometown of Plains. (Georgia Historical Society).
